East Midlands Region Kickstart Workshop 

On 

Wednesday 14 January 2015

In the morning we will have a introduction 

from the curator and a selection of 

Ladybird Books for us to look at 

For this you will need a Sketch/Notebook - 

pencil, fine ink pen, dry colouring material 

only (no water will be allowed), colouring 

crayons, camera, tracing paper. 

A few coloured papers appropriate to your 

images/initial ideas may be useful for later. 

The afternoon session (1-4pm). 

Will be ‘A Voyage of Discovery’ with Pam Keeling. 

You will be encouraged and directed towards 

developing ideas and images you found 

inspirational during the morning or 

beforehand. A series of question and answer 

sessions will take place via Group, pairings 

and one to one. There will be opportunity to 

progress ideas through sketches and 

drawings.

Further to our message yesterday it has been decided that we will cancel the meeting for December and meet again in January. The committee is meeting on Monday to resolve this issue and we will keep you all up to date with any news. We are working hard to find a suitable venue but Stitchcraft is a difficult act to follow for all that it offered us.
The committee would like to thank you for your patience and support and we are looking forward to seeing you at our meeting in the New Year.
In the meantime, we hope you find some creative time over the next few months.

Today we have had news that Stitchcraft studio has closed and we will have to cancel the meeting on Tuesday 2^nd December. The committee is extremely disappointed and saddened by this news but will work as quickly as possible to find an alternative venue in order to continue to build our branch of the Embroiderers’ guild. We will notify you all of further developments. If we don’t see you before, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and thank you all, on behalf of the committee, for you support in getting the branch started.

We used Moulding Felt available from Hindleys.com and Homecraft.co.uk (thinner).

Moulding felt can be used dry or wet. We used it dry because it can be reshaped again.

Moulding felt can be  coloured with dyna flow dyes put on with a sponge/

We started by bond webbing a piece of material to white moulding felt

The  previously dyed colour sheets were cut to make shapes based on our inspirational picture.

The pieces were secured with sewing, wire and cotton covered wire (90) which could also be dyed.

Change of Programme 

Tuesday,Dec 2nd., 2014

Instead of the Christmas mouse  Sarah Edwards will lead a group on making a Japanese decoration.I find this very exciting and hope others do as well.

Please remember that if an activity does not interest you members can bring their own projects and continue to enjoy the company of others who share a love of embroidery.

I have posted a picture of Japanese folding decorations below.It not necessarily what we be doing but it may help to inspire you and give people some ideas of what to expect,Materials will be provided.

Looking forward to seeing everyone with the optional secret Santa present,The guild is providing some nice nibbles to have with coffee

Do not forget your sewing kit, embellishments,2 x 10" squares of material and optional scraps of Xmas material

The blog will not only provide members with on going information about workshops and Embroider Guild news but will be a place members can leave queries  or  messages at the end of each post.

Additionally if you need to contact a committee member  click on the contact link on the right side of the page and their email addresses will appear. At  the moment it is a copy and paste job but I hope to rectify it soon.

On the right hand side of the page is a box marked alerts.If you type your email address into the box, new posts will be emailed   directly  to your email account as they are posted.This way will received information about workshops etc as soon pages are posted.

The right had column also lists all the older posts  which have been posted under Monthly headings i.e. April if you need to find them
