Layers of Stitch is a branch of the British Embroiderers Guild, based in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Our meetings take place on the 1st Tuesday of every month and we are currently meeting in a building on the Grantham Tennis Club site
A morning workshop for all who wish to do it. As always, please bring your own work if you prefer and there is the opportunity to stay for the afternoon. The finished banner pieces should be returned (if not already) and we can move on to the next stage – getting it ready for assembly.
Inktense 3D Pebbles with Annette Cooke
10″ x 10″ piece cream cotton canvas or calico
piece of white cotton – shirt, blouse or gents hanky weight is perfect)
small scraps of wadding and green painted muslin or scrim
invisible thread, cotton, needles and scissors
embroidery threads in shades of greens, blues, browns, creams, yellows. ochres and siennas – think shingle, sand and water
embroidery hoop – 6″ or 8″ would be best
any small beach shells, small embellishments (Annette will have some small shells available on the day)
Inktense blocks, water spray and paint brush
There will be some Inktense blocks for use on the day but if you have your own, please feel free to bring for your own use. If you do not wish to paint, batiks also give a lovely effect.
