May 1st Jess Grady-‘Embracing the Unconventional’ my textile journey. Jess was selected as emerging artist for the North Yorkshire Open Studios 2017. She was also highlighted in the Stitch Magazine.
June 5th Heather Wright –mini workshop making Silk Corsages designed to use scraps of antique, vintage and precious fabrics.
July 3rd Pam Keeling a slide talk presentation, The Guilds’ Collection.

September 4th AGM and Mary Sleigh joins us to present her illustrated talk: ‘An Embroiderer’s Journey’.
October 2nd Marian Jackson demonstrates her use of Sweetie Papers as used in her winning competition picture.
November 6th Helen Phillips returns to present another fascinating talk: ‘Yak Butter Tea and a Parcel of Shocks’.
December 4th Mini Christmas workshop.
Bus trip to Grimsby is likely to be in early July; date to be confirmed.
February 13th Emily Notman will teach us how to manipulate and dye our fabrics, panel construction and cotemporary hand stitch or machine stitch or a combination of both. Emily uses inks and bleach to produce soft pastel colours and prints using everyday objects as well as wrapping, trapping and binding fabric to produce subtle, unusual surfaces.
March 20th Gilli Theokritoff creating a small picture in Kantha stitch. We will be using a simple running stitch to give a dynamic effect, which is easy and fun to do. There will be plenty of opportunity for variation and experimentation.
June 12th Viv Arthur is visiting us again from Art Van Go. During the day we will have an introduction to basic material used in surface embellishment, concentrating on the most versatile mediums that can be adapted for many surfaces including fabric.
September 18th Angie Hughes is going to teach us about Exploring Velvet, her interesting effects are achieved with dyes, inks and bleaching together with luminaire paint and transfer foils. Angie will also talk about free machine embroidery techniques and embellishment on velvet.
